Obama, kiss of death as Green Energy Plants Close Their Doors

Green energy companies are shutting down all around the Nation, which were backed by billions of tax payer money. Thousands of jobs are lost, and the money will probably never be repaid.

Solyndra in May of 2010 welcomed obama , he wanted to promote the climate and energy legislation that made its debut in the Senate.

obama threw his weight behind the company (the kiss of death) to help it succeed.  Solyndra has been a favorite of the Obama administration and Department of Energy loan funding.

obama said in his speech at Solyndra:

we can see the positive impacts right here at Solyndra. Less than a year ago, we were standing on what was an empty lot. But through the Recovery Act, this company received a loan to expand its operations. This new factory is the result of those loans.

Since the project broke ground last fall, more than 3,000 construction workers have been employed building this plant. Across the country, workers — – across the country, workers in 22 states are manufacturing the supplies for this project. Workers in a dozen states are building the advanced manufacturing equipment that will power this new facility. When it’s completed in a few months, Solyndra expects to hire a thousand workers to manufacture solar panels and sell them across America and around the world.

And this in turn will generate business for companies throughout our country who will create jobs supplying this factory with parts and materials. So there’s a ripple effect. It’s not just localized to this area.

It’s never a good idea to get obama to come and speak up for you…. here is why

Today the U.S. solar company Solyndra, which once had dreams of a big IPO, is headed into bankruptcy.

1,100 employees of the Fremont, Calif.-based company are being laid off. It has closed it doors…

1.Solyndra plans to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Solyndra had earlier this year already scaled back its manufacturing facilities and laid off a portion of its workforce said in its Wednesday statement that it will seek to license or sell its technology as part of the bankruptcy process.

Solyndra received a $535 million loan guarantee through the Department of Energy’s 1705 loan guarantee program in September 2009, which was the first such loan guarantee provided by the federal government.

This is not the only Govt back green energy company in trouble.

2. Evergreen Solar will be shutting down its wafer manufacturing facility in Devens … Massachusetts

NextEra Energy Resources has closed a $935 million financing supporting the construction of its 250-megawatt Genesis solar thermal project in Riverside County, Calif.

The financing includes a $702 million project bond, a $150 million term loan and an $83 million letter of credit. The project is backed by a Department of Energy loan guarantee.

Credit Suisse arranged a bulk of the financing, including the DOE loan guarantee application. It also was the initial purchaser of the project bonds and arranged the $150 million term loan facility.

3. Spectra solar SpectraWatt, a solar spin-off from Intel, laid off most of its employees and shut its doors. Spectra received millions in federal and state grants.

This week, it filed for Chapter 11. SpectraWatt blamed market conditions for the bankruptcy filing…

Walker says the market is likely to be flooded with the assets of failing solar companies in the next three to six months, so SpectraWatt plans to move fast, with an auction on September 28

4. Clean Burn Fuels, LLCClean Burn Fuels, Chapter 11 in the US Bankruptcy Court for the Middle District of North Carolina. It has closed its doors.

Clean Burn also received $35 million in loan guarantees last year from the U.S. Department of Agriculture as an incentive to develop renewable energy sources.

Tim Johnson said the bankruptcy filing could affect the $3 million in incentives the county had granted Clean Burn Fuels. Incentives included 500 acres on the county’s industrial site and cash grants set to begin the sixth year after plant operations started.

On August 24 A foreclosure auction was held for the 60 MMgy Clean Burn Fuels LLC corn-based ethanol plant.

One thing all these companies had in common, is obama when he told them:

we will recover. We will rebuild. We will emerge from this period of turmoil stronger than ever before. You’re also proving something more. Every day that you build this expanded facilities, as you fill orders for solar panels to ship around the world, you’re demonstrating that the promise of clean energy isn’t just an article of faith — not anymore. It’s not some abstract possibility for science fiction movies or a distant future — It’s happening right now. The future is here. We’re poised to transform the ways we power our homes and our cars and our businesses. And we’re poised to lead our competitors in the development of new technologies and products and businesses. And we are poised to generate countless new jobs, good-paying middle-class jobs, right here in the United States of America.

That’s the promise of clean energy. And thanks to the men and women here today — and the innovators and the workers all across America — it’s a promise that we’ve already begun to fulfill.
