Good Morning America,” ABC’s Ashleigh Banfield sat down with Zach Osler, a high school friend of Jared Loughner, the suspect in the Tucson massacre.
Osler says his friend wasn’t shooting at people, “he was shooting at the world.” Regarding the high-pitched talk radio and cable news political rhetoric, Osler says his friend didn’t even watch the news.
He did not watch TV. He disliked the news. He didn’t listen to political radio. He didn’t take sides. He wasn’t on the left. He wasn’t on the right.
Zack Olser said the web site Zikegist added fuel to the fire for Loughner..
The Democrats need to give the blame game a rest and stop using it for political gain…
They have clearly seized on this tragedy to help their agenda to control free speech and try to remove Rush, Beck , Hannity and Fox News off the air…
Since the shooting on Saturday gun sales have tripled in fear that Govt would try to regulate guns and ammunition …
I think every Liberal Democrat owes Palin, Rush, The Tea Party and everyone on the right a sincere apology…
This SAD Tragedy should not be used for political gain but the left can’t seem to help themselves…

The liberal reaction to this horrible event is crazy. At present, we have no evidence that there was any political motivation to what happened, and even if there was, we don’t know whether or not Loughner was acting alone. Everyone from Sarah Palin, Rush Limbaugh, and the TPM is being blamed, even though Loughner’s apparent ideology was liberal. This of course in no way condemns liberals in general for what happened. But even if snippets of evidence connect Loughner to conservative causes, this does not mean that conservatives in general were in any way complicit in what he did, any more than liberals in general are. My great fear here is that the public may be politicizing a tragedy that may be due to nothing more than a case of severe mental disorder. The facts may ultimately prove this fear right or wrong, but we should wait for the facts before jumping to conclusions we have no way of proving.
